The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) announces a call for research proposals in collaboration with the Medical Research Council (MRC), United Kingdom, and the Brazilian State Funding Agencies (FAPs), articulated by the National Council of State Funding Agencies (CONFAP). The UK participation happens under the Newton Fund Programme.

Collaborative projects between researchers from Brazil and researchers from the United Kingdom will be funded. The aim is to improve health policy and systems for vulnerable communities in Brazil.

All projects must have a principal investigator on the Brazilian side and a principal investigator on the British side. Grants can be up to three years in duration, starting from April 2018.

The amount for funding will vary according to the needs of each research project. MRC will provide funding for the UK-based applicants and FAPs will provide funding for their respective Brazilian applicants. To FAPESP, submissions must follow the rules of Research Grants – Public Policy Programme. 

Proposals must be submitted until September 26, 2017.
