The Neuroscience Laboratory at the University of São Paulo’s Chemistry Institute (IQ-USP) in São Paulo City, Brazil, has opened one post-doctoral position with fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) to work in a research project that investigates the action of purinergic receptor modulators in animal models of Parkinson's disease, under supervision of Prof. Dr. Henning Ulrich.

    Requirements to fill the position

It is mandatory: to be fluent in English; have a doctorate in Biological Sciences with emphasis in Biochemistry for a maximum of 7 years; have publications in the area; have experience in immunohistochemistry, RT-PCR, western blotting, and cell culture; previous experience in induction of animal models of Parkinson's disease, perfusion, cell transplantation and brain dissection; present in-depth knowledge about modulation of the purinergic system in the central nervous system and in neurodegeneration processes, modulation of inflammatory processes in neurodegenerative diseases and adult neurogenesis; possess communication skills by presenting scientific articles and data at national and international congresses.

It is desirable: to present experience with behavioral testing in rodents.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationalities. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP’s Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 7,373.10 monthly with duration of 24 months, and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
