The postdoctoral researcher will develop the subproject "Biogeography of Selenastraceae family (Chlorophyceae, Sphaeropleales): Cosmopolitanism and distribution patterns on the light of molecular systematics".

Besides experience with molecular biology techniques, the candidate must have knowledge and experience to obtain and maintain axenic algal cultures and master techniques for quantifying algal growth. Knowledge about (traditional) chlorophycean taxonomy is also important.

This subproject will be developed in interaction with other subprojects related to chemotaxonomy, analysis of digital images and traditional taxonomy, which implies on a multidisciplinary interaction when publishing the data.

The applicant must have PhD in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry or areas related to the subproject.

The postdoctoral researcher will be granted a fellowship by FAPESP (R$6,819,30 per month, 12 months), and an amount for technical reserve of 15% of the annual amount of the fellowship to unforeseen expenses directly related to the research activities of the subproject aforementioned.

More details about the postdoctoral fellowship granted by FAPESP are at: www.fapesp.br/en/5427.

The application must be submitted exclusively by email, with the required documentation attached in PDF format. The documentation must be sent to Professor Armando Vieira (ahvieira@ufscar.br) before April 8, 2016. The beginning of the activities is planned to May 1, 2016.

The documents required are: letter of interest, current Curriculum Vitae, which must include publications and manuscripts accepted for publication, confirming the abilities/knowledge, and the summary of the PhD thesis (1-2 pages).

The position is available for Brazilian and foreign qualified researchers.

The selected researcher, if not resident in São Carlos, may have a grant for installation aid.
