  • Resumo Summary

    Uma bolsa de pós-doutorado está disponível no âmbito do Projeto Temático FAPESP “Técnicas algébricas, topológicas e analíticas em Geometria Diferencial e Análise Geométrica” (Processo 2016/23746-6, Prof. Paolo Piccione) para trabalhar com Teoria das Folheações. A bolsa é válida por dois anos (podendo ser renovada por até duas vezes, o que completaria um período total de quatro anos). Buscamos candidatos com forte potencial em pesquisa no campo da pesquisa proposta.

    Procuramos estender as aplicações das técnicas em folheações Riemannianas e de Killing predominantes nos trabalhos recentes do Dr. Dirk Töben, assim como buscar generalizações destes resultados para folheações Riemannianas singulares. Mais precisamente, esta pesquisa incluirá: elaboração de um survey em geometria e topologia das folheações Riemannianas que englobe o atual estado da arte desta área, investigação sobre a invariância da cohomologia básica equivariante e outros invariantes algébricos sob deformações, possíveis aplicações à localização de classes características básicas, e generalizações de teoremas e técnicas da teoria de folheações Riemannianas e de Killing para o caso das folheações Riemannianas singulares, utilizando técnicas de desingularização. Outros possíveis tópicos envolvem resultados de finitude para folheações Riemannianas sob restrições geométricas. (submissão pode ser em inglês ou português).

    Requisitos

    Candidatos devem ter doutorado na área de Geometria Diferencial, obtido há não mais que sete anos, a contar do início da bolsa. Candidatos com experiência prévia na área do projeto terão preferência.

    Será exigido do bolsista dedicação total ao projeto de pesquisa. O candidato selecionado não deve possuir outros vínculos empregatícios (formais ou informais), nem receber bolsas de outras entidades. O bolsista deverá enviar relatórios técnicos sobre o desenvolvimento do projeto dentro dos prazos estipulados. Espera-se também que o bolsista não se ausente da instituição-sede do projeto, a não ser em casos de realização de pesquisas de campo, ainda assim por período limitado.

    A vaga está aberta a brasileiros e estrangeiros. Os selecionados receberão Bolsa de Pós-Doutorado da FAPESP no valor de R$ 7.174,80 mensais e Reserva Técnica. A Reserva Técnica de Bolsa de PD equivale a 15% do valor anual da bolsa e tem o objetivo de atender a despesas imprevistas e diretamente relacionadas à atividade de pesquisa.

    Instruções para candidatura

    O candidato deve enviar a malex@ime.usp.br e piccione@ime.usp.br os seguintes documentos:

    - Carta de apresentação;
    - CV atualizado e Currículo Lattes (http://lattes.cnpq.br/);
    - Cópia do visto temporário ou permanente compatível com a atividade proposta, caso o candidato for estrangeiro;
    - Cópia do certificado de Doutorado;
    - Duas cartas de recomendação.

    Calendário

    - Prazo para inscrições: até 29/06/2018;
    - Anúncio do resultado: o candidato será notificado por e-mail;
    - A implementação da bolsa seguirá as regras do programa FAPESP para bolsas de pós-doutorado (http://www.fapesp.br/270).

    Quanto ao desenvolvimento do projeto, espera-se que os primeiros 10-12 meses sejam dedicados à reunião de bibliografia relevante, desenvolvimento de pesquisa e integração do candidato ao grupo de pesquisa do IME incluindo participação em seminários e palestras. Os 6 ou 7 meses seguintes devem ser dedicados ao problema da invariância da cohomologia básica equivariante e assuntos relacionados, e os últimos 6 ou 7 meses a generalizações do caso particular.

    The Geometry Research Group of the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of São Paulo (IME-USP) invites applications for a post-doctoral position associated to the Thematic Project “Algebraic, topological and analytical techniques in Differential Geometry and Geometric Analysis” (FAPESP 2016/23746-6, Prof. Paolo Piccione), to work on Foliation Theory. The position is for two years (possibly renewable twice, for up to four years, more details below). We are looking for candidates with strong research potential in the field of the proposed project. The funding is provided by FAPESP, the research funding agency of the state of São Paulo (http://www.fapesp.br/en).

    About the project

    We seek to extend the applications of the techniques in Riemannian and Killing Foliations predominant in the works of Dr. Dirk Töben and develop generalizations of these results for singular Riemannian foliations. More precisely, this research will include: the elaboration of a survey in geometry and topology of Riemannian foliations that encompasses the current state-of-the-art of this field, the invariance of the basic equivariant cohomology and other algebraic invariants under deformations, possible applications to the localization of basic characteristic classes, and generalizations of theorems and techniques from the theory of regular Riemannian/Killing foliations to singular Riemannian foliations, using desingularization techniques. Other possible topic involves finiteness results for Riemannian foliations under geometric constraints.

    Job description

    The position is to develop the proposed project, which includes the scientific research, article publications, participation in conferences and workshops and possibly supervision of students. The complete project can be requested via the email malex@ime.usp.br.

    Work environment

    The selected candidate will work at the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics (IME) of the University of São Paulo (www.ime.usp.br), one of the main Brazilian research centers in Mathematics, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Marcos Martins Alexandrino da Silva (www.ime.usp.br/malex/). Address: Instituto de Matemática e Estatística da Universidade de São Paulo, Rua do Matão, 1010, Vila Universitária, São Paulo - SP, CEP 05508-090.

    Candidate requirements and obligations

    Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in the field of Differential Geometry by the start date of the scholarship, obtained no longer than seven years ago. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in the field of the project.

    The fellowship requires full-time dedication to the research project and the approved applicant may not hold any other formal or informal employment, nor receive other fellowships from other entities. The fellowship holder must submit technical reports of the development of the project within the stipulated time frames. The holder is also not to be absent from the institution, except to carry out field research or a research placement, for a limited time.

    Duration and monthly stipend

    The position is for 24 months. There is the possibility of renewing the fellowship twice, for 12 more months each time, up to a total of 48 months, upon conditions that include the recommendation of the supervisor based on the academic performance of the candidate and availability of funds at the time. The position includes monthly stipend and research contingency funds. The stipend of the FAPESP postdoctoral fellowship is R$ 7.174,80. The research contingency funds are intended for use in the activities developed by the fellowship holder, strictly related to the research project during the term of the fellowship, and its usage should be reported. These funds are equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship. See http://www.fapesp.br/270 for more details.
