The High Energy Nuclear Physics group at University of Campinas (UNICAMP) is seeking to hire two post-doctoral researchers to work in Heavy-Ion physics, preferably one with focus on experimental data analysis with the ALICE collaboration, and one with focus on phenomenological aspects in particular with hydrodynamical simulations of Heavy Ion Collisions.

The UNICAMP High Energy Nuclear Physics group has 3 permanent faculty members as well as several graduate students, and is a member of the ALICE collaboration at CERN leading several different analysis topics within the experiment, currently focused on Light Flavored particles. The group has also been very active on the phenomenological aspects of Heavy Ion collisions, including relativistic hydrodynamics, high-multiplicity proton-proton and proton-nucleus collisions, and hadronic cascade models.

The successful candidate for the post-doctoral position in Heavy Ion phenomenology will also benefit from the ongoing collaboration between the UNICAMP group, Prof. Matthew Luzum and Prof. Jorge Noronha -- both from the nuclear theory group at the University of Sao Paulo.

UNICAMP is one of the top Universities of Latin America, highly recognized by its focus on scientific production. The campus is in the city of Campinas, located 80 km from the city of São Paulo, hence close to the main port of entry to Brazil.

The positions are funded by the Brazilian FAPESP research institutions, and the postdoctoral fellowships are for two years, with a possibility for extension up to three year. Applications should include a CV (including a list of publications), research statement, and three letters of recommendation, all submitted though the AcademicJobsOnline.org link: https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/12871

Review of applications will begin on January 1st, 2019 and will continue until both positions have been filled. An interview through remote connection will be requested for some applicants.

The starting date for successful candidates is flexible, but is anticipated to be as soon as March 1st.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationalities. The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from the Sao Paulo Research Foundation -- FAPESP in the amount of R$ 7,373.10 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
