  • Resumo Summary

    O Centro de Rádio Astronomia e Astrofísica Mackenzie (CRAAM) oferece uma vaga de pós-doutorado em rádio astronomia. O candidato escolhido trabalhará no projeto “Atenuação Atmosférica na banda THz até o Infra-Vermelho médio”, sob a supervisão do professor Carlos Guillermo Giménez de Castro.

    Candidatos devem possuir um doutorado em astrofísica, física ou áreas relacionadas. Excelentes habilidades em computação e experiência em observações rádio astronômicas no submilimétrico são essenciais. Será considerado ainda um “plus” ter trabalhado com algum programa de modelagem da transferência atmosférica e/ou experiência no infra-vermelho médio.

    Sobre o projeto

    A atenuação atmosférica no submilimétrico até o infra-vermelho médio ocupa um lugar chave na calibração dos fluxos astronômicos. Este projeto visa estudar em detalhe a transmissão atmosférica para frequências escolhidas entre 100 GHz e 30 THz para determinados lugares do mundo. Os estudos serão desenvolvidos por meio dos modelos “Atmospheric Transfer Model” (ATM), “Atmospheric Model” (am) e “Atmospheric Radiative Transfer Simulator” (arts), enquanto os perfis atmosféricos CIRA-86 da COSPAR e GDAS do NOAA serão usados como dados de entrada. Além desta modelagem teórica serão usados dados de observações solares em 30 THz para se obter a opacidade.

    Para maiores informações sobre o projeto, acesse: http://fapesp.br/oportunidades/CRAAM-FLAT-PD_Project.pdf.

    Documentação exigida

    1) Carta de motivação para atuar no projeto;
    2) Certificado de conclusão de Doutorado;
    3) Súmula curricular (http://www.fapesp.br/5266).

    Solicitações devem ser enviadas até o dia 21 de setembro as 23:59 hs de Brasilia no email cage.pos@mackenzie.br

    A vaga está aberta a brasileiros e estrangeiros. O selecionado receberá Bolsa de Pós-Doutorado da FAPESP no valor de R$ 7.373,10 mensais e Reserva Técnica equivalente a 15% do valor anual da bolsa para atender a despesas imprevistas e diretamente relacionadas à atividade de pesquisa.

    The Center for Radioastronomy and Astrophysics Mackenzie (CRAAM) is inviting applications for a post-doctoral position in the area of Radioastronomy The succesful applicant will work on the project “The Atmospheric Attenuation in the THz to mid-IR band” under supervision of Dr. Carlos Guillermo Giménez de Castro.

    Applicants must have a PhD in Astrophysics, Physics, or related fields. Excellent computing skills and hands-on experience relevant to radioastronomical submillimeter observations are essential. Experience with atmospheric transmission models and/or with Mid-IR and/or THz observations are a plus.

    About the project. The atmospheric attenuation at submillimeter to mid-IR frequencies plays a key role in the absolute flux of astronomical sources determination. This project aims to analyze in detail the atmospheric transmission for selected frequencies between 100 GHz to 30 THz and for determined sites. The analysis will be carried on by using programs “Atmospheric Model” (am), “Atmospheric Transmission Model” (ATM) and “Atmospheric Radiative Transfer Simulator” (arts), along with COSPAR CIRA-86 and NOAA GDAS atmospheric profiles as input. Solar observations at 30 THz will be used to obtain the optical depth from solar observations.

    About CRAAM. The Center for Radioastronomy and Astrophysics Mackenzie (CRAAM) is a research center of the Engineering School of Mackenzie Presbyterian University. Located in the city of São Paulo (Brazil), during its almost 60 years of life, CRAAM developed an international recognition, mostly in the Solar Physics field, where it has contributed to both new diagnostics of the flare dynamics and to the observing instrumentation.

    CRAAM is now developing new solar telescopes for the THz to Mid-IR, almost unexplored, bands.

    Documents

    1) A letter of interest describing the experience, skills and motivation to work in the project;
    2) PhD certificate;
    3) Curricular Summary (http://www.fapesp.br/en/6351).
