Post-doctoral Fellowship in Machine Learning and Computer Vision

• Resumo Summary

  Neste projeto de pesquisa, objetivamos desenvolver metodologias computacionais capazes de sincronizar eventos específicos no espaço e no tempo (X-coherence), checar fatos quanto à sua veracidade e padrão de espalhamento, e buscar conteúdos específicos de interesse a partir de fontes diversas e heterogêneas.

  A vaga destina-se a pesquisadores que possam explorar fontes heterogêneas de informação buscando sincronizar informações textuais e visuais em torno da posição de um evento ou objeto de interesse, bem como ordená-los espacial e temporalmente de modo a permitir uma melhor compreensão sobre o que aconteceu antes, durante e logo após o dito evento.

  Após a organização automática das informações obtidas e do entendimento da ordem dos fatos, objetivamos desenvolver soluções para mineração (busca) de pessoas, objetos e lugares de interesse para possíveis análises de busca de suspeitos, verificação de fatos ou até mesmo para entender a natureza do ocorrido.

  A vaga está aberta a brasileiros e estrangeiros. O selecionado receberá Bolsa de Pós-Doutorado da FAPESP no valor de R$ 7.373,10 mensais e Reserva Técnica equivalente a 15% do valor anual da bolsa para atender a despesas imprevistas e diretamente relacionadas à atividade de pesquisa.

  One post-doctoral position with fellowship from FAPESP, the São Paulo Research Foundation, is available within the research project based in the Institute of Computing, University of Campinas (UNICAMP). The project focuses on synchronizing specific events in space and time (X-coherence), fact-checking, and mining persons, objects and contents of interest from various and heterogeneous sources including – but not limited to – the internet, social media and surveillance imagery.

  For that, we seek candidates capable of harnessing information from various media sources and synchronize the multiple textual and visual information pieces around the position of an event or object as well as order them so as to allow a better understanding about what happened before, during, and shortly after the event.

  After automatically organizing the data and understanding the order of the facts, we can devise and deploy solutions for mining persons or objects of interest for suspect analysis/tracking, fact-checking, or even understanding the nature of the said event.

  This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationalities. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP’s Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 7,373.10 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
