  São convidados pesquisadores em nível de Pós-Doutorado em Química Medicinal para se juntar à equipe liderada pelo Professor Carlos Montanari, da Universidade de São Paulo. O objetivo do Projeto Temático FAPESP é a descoberta de novos inibidores de cisteíno proteases para o tratamento da doença de Chagas, que é causada pelo parasito Trypanosoma cruzi e é endêmica na América do Sul e Central.
  
  A doença de Chagas é atualmente tratável apenas na fase aguda e os fármacos utilizados têm efeitos colaterais inaceitáveis. Assim, esta posição representa uma excelente oportunidade para fazer contribuições importantes na área das doenças tropicais negligenciadas.
  
  Idealmente, o candidato deve ter experiência em ensaios bioquímicos e biofísicos. Conhecimento de biologia molecular também é desejável.
  
  A bolsa é financiada pela Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo - FAPESP e está disponível imediatamente por 12 meses, em primeira instância, com a possibilidade de prorrogação por mais 12 meses.
  
  O(a) candidato(a) deve ter doutorado em química orgânica, química medicinal ou biologia química. O(a) pesquisador(a) estará alocado(a) no Grupo de Química Medicinal do Instituto de Química de São Carlos, IQSC/USP, Avenida Trabalhador Sancarlense, 400, São Carlos/SP, Brasil.

  Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research fellow in medicinal chemistry to join the team led by Prof Carlos Montanari at the University of São Paulo. The objective of the FAPESP theme project is the discovery of novel cysteine protease inhibitors for treatment of Chagas disease, which is caused by the Trypanosoma cruzi parasite and is endemic in South and Central Americas.
  
  Chagas disease is currently treatable only in the acute phase and the drugs used have unacceptable side effects so the position represents an excellent opportunity to make important contributions in the area of neglected tropical diseases.
  
  Ideally, the candidate should have expertise in biochemical and biophysical assays. Molecular biology knowledge is also desirable.
  
  The post is funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation - FAPESP, and is available immediately for 12 months in the first instance, with the possibility of extension for a further 12 months.
  
  The successful candidate must have a PhD in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry or chemical biology. The position will be in the Medicinal Chemistry Group of the Institute of Chemistry of São Carlos, IQSC/USP, Avenida Trabalhador Sancarlense, 400, São Carlos/SP, Brazil.

  This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationalities. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP's Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 6.819,30 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
