Vice president of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, Vice president of VDI - Brazil and professor at the Engineering School of São Carlos - USP.
He was president of the Institute for Technological Research (IPT) from 2008 to 2012, where he led a broad institutional modernization program.
In 2013, he co-founded the EMBRAPII - Brazilian Company for Industrial Research and Innovation where he coordinated the creation of the new innovation funding systems as its first chief executive officer.
He was coordinator of the Millennium Factory Institute and co-founder of Nucleus for Advanced Manufacturing of USP - São Carlos, from which they were formed 12 technology startups and many industrial innovations.
He was also a researcher / consultant in projects in partnership with global manufacturing companies like TRW, Chrysler, BMW, Hyundai and Mitsubishi, among others.
Graduated, PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of São Paulo and post doctoral fellowship by the University of California - Berkeley.
He is member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences - ABC, fellow of the International Academy for Production Engineering - CIRP and CNPq 1A Researcher.
He has 250 published works and 3 licensed patents in the area of Advanced Manufacturing.
Prof. Oliveira was awarded with the Grand Cross of the National Order of Scientific Merit, and also received the following awards: FCW's Conrado Wessel Foundation, Anisio Teixeira Award CAPES / MEC and SAP Americas Innovation Award from SAP Global. Currently he participates in the board of CAPES, CNPq, FAPESP, IPT, Butantan Institute, Insper and CNPEM.
