SPRINT – 4th Edition 2015

Specific requests for submission of proposals in partnership with researchers from the
University of Southampton

FAPESP and the University of Southampton signed a Cooperation Agreement for Research on May, 2011, aiming to implement scientific and technological cooperation between researchers from the University of Southampton, UK and from the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil, through the funding of joint research projects.

Under the referred Agreement, as an action to promote such collaboration, FAPESP and the University of Southampton make public this Call for Proposals for the exchange of faculty and postdoctoral researchers, under the terms and conditions of the SPRINT 4th Edition 2015 (www.fapesp.br/sprint/call42015) and hereinafter set forth.

1. Eligibility from the University of Southampton side

1.1 Eligibility to submit proposals within the scope of this Call:

a. Any researchers affiliated to the University of Southampton.

2. Fields of knowledge

This Call for Proposals invites research proposals in all fields of knowledge.

3. Duration of the project for the exchange of researchers

The maximum duration of each project is up to 24 months.

4. Funding principles

FAPESP will provide funding of up to the equivalent of GBP£5,000 per proposal per year and the University of Southampton will provide funding of up to GBP£5,000 per proposal per year, for the duration of the grant to cover research-related mobility expenses, under the provisions of Clause 5 of the Scientific Cooperation Agreement established by the Parties (www.fapesp.br/en/6300).

5. Proposal characteristics for University of Southampton researchers

5.1 Please observe the item 6 of the principal text of this Call for Proposals at: SPRINT 4th Edition 2015 (www.fapesp.br/sprint/call42015).

5.2 In addition to the research project above referred, the proposal must include the following items to the University of Southampton:

a) University of Southampton-FAPESP Call Application Form

b) Letters or emails of support from co-PIs confirming collaboration

c) Detailed Financial Statement as per Application Form

d) CV’s of principle investigators

6. Submission of proposals to the University of Southampton

6.1 The proposal as specified in the previous section must be submitted by the deadline both to FAPESP by the Principal Investigator from the State of São Paulo and to the University of Southampton by the Principal Investigator from Southampton.

6.2 No proposal will be accepted after the closing date for submission, nor will any addendum or explanation be accepted, unless those explicitly and formally requested by FAPESP or the University of Southampton.

6.3 Submissions to FAPESP can only be accepted in paper, via mail, to the following address: Rua Pio XI, 1500, Alto da Lapa, CEP 05468-901 – São Paulo/SP, with “Chamada FAPESP/UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHAMPTON 2013” written on the envelope. Only proposals with a stamped postmark date within the deadline of this Call will be processed.

6.4 Principal Investigators at University of Southampton must submit all proposals by email to the Sara Sandford, Regional Director, The Americas and Europe, International Office, at S.Sandford@southampton.ac.uk

6.5 Proposals submitted by any other means will not be accepted. Late submissions will be returned.

7. Result of the analysis

Final results will be announced on FAPESP (www.fapesp.br) and University of Southampton (www.southampton.ac.uk) web portals and by means of a communication to the interested PIs.
