Watson Loh holds a B.Sc degree in Industrial Chemistry (from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, 1986) and Dr. Sc. degree in Chemistry (from the University of Campinas, 1992). He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Chemical Laboratory of the University of Kent, UK (1992-1994) and a visiting researcher at the Division of Physical Chemistry of the Lund University, Sweden (2003-2004).

Affiliated to the Department of Physical Chemistry of the Institute of Chemistry of the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) since 1994, he is a Full Professor since 2011 and was Director of the Institute of Chemistry (2010-2014).

He is the coordinating Editor of the Journal of the Brazilian Chemical Society (published by SBQ) and Associate Editor of the Journal of Surfactants and Detergents (published by Springer). He is a member of the Advisory Boards of the Journal the Chemical Thermodynamics (Elsevier), Langmuir (ACS) and Chemical Sciences (RSC). He was elected as Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (2013) and Chair of the Calorimetry Conference (2013-2016). He was a member of the Chemistry Committee of FAPESP from 2008 to 2016.
