Roberto Gomes de Souza Berlinck, born in São Paulo city (Brazil), graduated in chemistry at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1987), and obtained a PhD in Chemistry at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, under the supervision of Professor Jean-Claude Braekman (1992).
In 1993 started a position as assistant professor at the Instituto de Química de São Carlos of the Universidade de São Paulo (IQSC-USP), where he is now full professor.
Dr. Berlinck was a visiting professor at the University of British Columbia between 1997 and 1998, working in collaboration with Prof. Raymond J. Andersen, as well as between 2014 and 2015 as visiting professor at the University of Michigan in collaboration with Professor David H. Sherman.
His current research interests include the isolation, biological activities, synthesis and biosynthesis of biologically active marine and microbial natural products.
