A cooperative agreement between FAPESP and the British Council (BC) is designed to promote advances in science and technology, in Brazil and in the United Kingdom.
The agreement covers a variety of activities carried out jointly by universities or research institutes in the state of São Paulo and similar entities in the United Kingdom: the exchange of scientific and technical personnel working in programs of research and instruction; the organization of seminars, symposiums, round table discussions and conferences; and collaborative research projects.
The agreement funds the exchange of masters or doctoral students between Brazil and the United Kingdom for academic or research purposes. Applicants should be no older than 35 years of age.
Researchers who are recipients of a FAPESP grant and receive BC funding to bring a colleague from the United Kingdom to their institution can, with the approval of their advisors, apply for a supplement to fund their own travel to visit the institution of their colleague in the United Kingdom. Priority will be given to candidates working in the following areas: aerospace science; agrobiology; biodiversity; bioethics and regulation; bioinformatics; biotechnology; biomedical sciences; information and communications technology; innovation; and nanotechnology.
Agreement effective from 21 August 2005 until 20 August 2010.
