The Special Programs, financed from FAPESP’s own core funds, comprise programs created by the Foundation with the aim of training human resources in areas considered to be strategic or in which numbers of personnel are poor, to modernize the physical infrastructure of the State research system, to ensure researchers have electronic access to data and information from Brazil and abroad, to disseminate research activity and to encourage the development of research in areas which are cutting edge or of specific importance.
The training of human resources is the aim of programs such as Incentive for Scientific Journalism (Science Media) and the Training of Human Resources in Support of Research (Technical Training).
The dissemination of research activity is the objective of the Support for Young Researchers program, which aims to retain and train new leaders in science within the State.
Finally, concerned with the improvement of secondary education in the public schooling system, FAPESP created a program, Improvement of Public Schooling, which brings together researchers and teachers from public schools in the joint development of new proposals for education and teaching.
