The traditional means of research support offered by the State of São Paulo Research Foundation, within its so-called Regular Line, are fellowships and financial awards for research, in all areas of knowledge.
FAPESP offers fellowships in the State of São Paulo and abroad. In the State of São Paulo, the modes offered are: Scientific Initiation, Masters degree, Doctorate, Fast Track Doctorate and Post-Doctorate.
Abroad, the mode offered is Research Fellowship.
The modes of financial award offered by FAPESP to doctorate-holding researchers for the development of individual projects are: Financial Award for Research, Repair of Equipment, Award for the Invitation of a Visiting Researcher, Organization of a Scientific Meeting, Participation in a Scientific Meeting in Brazil or Abroad and Award for Scientific Publication.
For the development of research projects with a wider scope, involving groups of researchers, on occasions multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional, FAPESP offers the Thematic Projects mode of financial award.
FAPESP supports projects submitted by researchers who are active in the State of São Paulo and the decision whether or not to fund them is always made on the basis of the merit of each project, as assessed by scientific and technological advisors.
