Steering Committees for Special Programs - FAPESP Research Program on eScience and Data Science

Claudia Bauzer Medeiros (PhD Computer Science - University of Waterloo, Canada) is a full professor at the Institute of Computing, University of Campinas (UNICAMP). Conducts research in scientific data management, particularly with challenges associated with data heterogeneity, volume and complexity, for various types of real-world applications.

President of the Brazilian Computer Society from 2003 to 2007, she has been a member and/or chair of many commissions and national evaluation committees in Brazil. She is currently a Member of the Coordination of the eScience and Data Science program at FAPESP.

Also within FAPESP, she coordinates actions associated with Open Science policies, in particular Open Data, including the coordination of the construction of the state Network of Open Research Data repositories.

Professor Medeiros received several national and international awards for teaching, research, and initiatives to attract women to computing. Member of the boards of RDA (Research Data Alliance) and vice-coordinator of the WDS scientific board (World Data System, an official ISC – International Science Council - entity dedicated to research data repositories). Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and the World Academy of Sciences.
