The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and the British Council announce a call for proposals to support the organization of short courses for the development of professional communication skills under the Researcher Connect program.

The call for proposals is supported by the Newton Fund. The same opportunity is being offered in other Brazilian states by the state research foundations (FAPs) which participate in the call, with articulation by the Brazilian National Council of State Research and Innovation Support Foundations (CONFAP).

Researchers or professors from higher education or research institutions in 17 Brazilian states – including the State of São Paulo – are welcome to send in an application to host a course. The modules will be held in English, during three days. Up to 20 researchers can take part in each course.

There are two course options:

  • Type 1: Foundation, Writing for Publications Basic, Abstracts, and Better Presentations.

  • Type 2 (only for participants with B2 English level or higher): Foundation, Writing for Publications Basic, Getting Published, and Academic collaboration.

FAPESP will pay an amount of up to R$ 12.500,00 per course. The Newton Fund will cover all the trainers’ fees and will pay an amount of R$ 6.500,00, primarily to cover trainers travel costs.

All courses must take place between July 1, 2015 and March 1, 2016. The submission deadline is June 16, 2015.

Guidelines to submission of proposals are available at: www.fapesp.br/9475
