FAPESP and Weizmann Institute of Science announce call for proposals The aim is to promote collaboration between researchers from Israel and from the State of São Paulo in the field of Life Sciences (photo: Weizmann Institute of Science)

The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and the Weizmann Institute of Science (WIS), Israel, launch the first call for joint research projects under the auspices of the agreement signed by the institutions. 

The aim is to promote and strengthen collaboration between researchers affiliated with WIS and researches affiliated with higher education and research institutions in the State of São Paulo. 

The themes of interest for the call have a strong emphasis on Life Sciences, with a preference to cancer and inflammation research. 

FAPESP and WIS are prepared to fund the projects with a total of up to US$70.000 per project/per year – as a general rule, the funding is for two years with a balanced contribution from the institutions. 

Applicants from Israel and from the State of São Paulo must satisfy the eligibility criteria of WIS and FAPESP, respectively. 

The proposals will be received until June 12, 2015.
