FAPESP announces a new call for proposals with Belmont Forum Opportunity aims to fund collaborative research in the theme "Scenarios of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services" (Belmont Forum)

The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) announces a new call for research proposals with the Belmont Forum, group of institutions to encourage research on global changes.

The call is included in the Belmont Forum Collaborative Research Action on “Scenarios of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services - 2014” and encourages the formation of new international networks as one to two-year projects.

The objective is also the advancement of the inter- and trans-disciplinary methodologies of scenario-building needed to enhance usefulness of biodiversity scenarios in decision-making.

The scientific research theme is “Scenarios of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services”. The call for proposals is supported by Belmont Forum selected countries, including FAPESP for the participation of researchers in the State of São Paulo, Brazil.

Funding should support researchers to cooperate in consortia consisting of partners from at least three of the participating countries. Depending on all conditions of eligibility and peer review being met, the budget earmarked by FAPESP for the call will be equivalent of up to €500,000.00.

It is expected that applications to this call will be Collaborative Research Grants with the consortium composition as defined in the call document and FAPESP will fund the São Paulo partner of any successful trans-national collaboration.

The closing date for submission of proposals is July 2nd, 2014.
