The São Paulo Research Foundation, FAPESP, and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG, are grateful to invite you to the conference on The German Excellence Initiative by Prof. Dr. Ing. Matthias Kleiner, DFG President.
The Excellence Initiative aims to promote top-level research and to improve the quality of German universities and research institutions in general, thus making Germany a more attractive research location, making it more internationally competitive and focusing attention on the outstanding achievements of Germany universities and the German scientific community.
After the Excellence Initiative was passed by the German federal and state governments in 2005, the DFG was given responsibility for running the initiative together with the German Science Council.
After the conference the agreement between FAPESP and DFG will be signed, to extend the collaboration between the two agencies. This collaboration that has already supported 8 joint research projects with Principal Investigators in Germany and in São Paulo and both FAPESP and DFG look forward to its continuation.
