FAPESP and Belmont Forum, group of member organizations with the mission to encourage research on global changes, announce a new call for proposals under de cooperation agreement signed by the institutions.

The motivation comes from the necessity to develop new computational methods for handling scientific data associated with the interdisciplinary research on global environmental change, which presents a major challenge in data management. Initiatives are expected to bring together environmental, social and economic scientists along with computational scientists around those challenges.

The call “Science-Driven E-Infrastructures Innovation (SEI)” will support collaborative projects in topics that include “Enable High-end Data assimilation and Broaden Data Model Intercomparison”, “Accelerate Data Access and Analysis for Disaster Monitoring and Mitigation”, “Enable Science Reproducibility and Trust”, “Transdisciplinary Multi-source Data Management”, and “Lower Barriers to Open Science Practices”.

Proposals must combine significant contributions by national research teams from at least three of the countries participating in the international call.

Proponents from the State of São Paulo must follow specific guidelines, within the scheme of FAPESP’s Regular Research Awards. Exceptions are described in the call for proposals.

Proven experience in international interdisciplinary projects and eligibility approval by FAPESP are also required.

Leading principal investigators of each consortium must submit full proposals directly to Belmont Forum, until July 23, 2018.

After the submission phase, principal investigators from the State of São Paulo will be individually contacted by FAPESP for further instructions on how to submit the complete documentation through SAGe system.

Guidelines for researchers from the State of São Paulo are available at www.fapesp.br/en/11746.
