The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) announce the first call for proposals under the framework of the agreement signed between the parties.

The aim of the call is to promote and facilitate bilateral research and innovation projects between companies from the State of São Paulo and from Canada.

Industrial research and development projects should demonstrate the technological and mutually beneficial contribution of the participants from both countries as well as address specific market needs or challenges and emonstrate high industrial relevance and commercial potential.

Proposals must be collaboratively prepared and submitted by companies in Canada and in the State of São Paulo.

The joint R&D project should aim at the development of products/processes leading to commercialization in the global market or in Brazil.

The products or processes to be developed must be highly innovative and with significant commercial potential.

Selected R&D projects will be eligible to receive funding from the Government of Canada’s Canadian International Innovation Program (CIIP) and FAPESP in the State of Sao Paulo. CIIP is managed in Canada by Global Affairs Canada in partnership with the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP).

FAPESP and NRC-IRAP will jointly select up to 10 proposals. FAPESP will fund projects under the terms, conditions and funding limits of the FAPESP’s Small Business Innovative Research – Phase 2 in the State of Sao Paulo.

The deadline for Canadian applicants to register by submitting a company profile form is October 6, 2017. The full application deadline is December 8, 2017.
